Collision Permissions

Collision Permissions give fleet admins granular, role-based control over who can view and download collision media, access life-threatening collision content, and manage enhanced collision reports. These permissions appear under a dedicated Collisions subsection in Admin > Fleet Users > Roles & Permissions within the Safety section.

Overview

Collision Permissions let fleet admins define exactly which users can access sensitive collision content by role, with separate controls for viewing and downloading. It helps fleets:

  • Control access to collision media by configuring view and download permissions separately, so investigators and reviewers can have different levels of access.
  • Restrict life-threatening collision content to designated users, preventing broad distribution of sensitive First Responder alerts and media.
  • Manage enhanced collision report access by role, including whether users can view only or also customize and download reports.
  • Maintain Confidential Safety Events as a hard gate, which continues to apply on top of collision permissions for any collision marked confidential.

Available collision permissions

Collision permissions appear as a dedicated subsection within the Safety section of Roles & Permissions. The following permissions can be configured by role:

PermissionWhat it controls
View collision videosAccess to collision event videos in Safety Hub and collision detail pages
Download collision videosAbility to download collision video footage
View life-threatening collisionsAccess to life-threatening collision events and First Responder content
Download life-threatening collision videosAbility to download life-threatening collision video footage
View, customize, and download enhanced collision reportsAccess to enhanced collision PDFs, including customization and download
Note: Enhanced collision report access is off by default and must be explicitly enabled per role.

Configure collision permissions

  1. Log in to the Fleet Dashboard.
  2. Go to Admin > Fleet Users > Roles & Permissions.
  3. Select an existing role or create a new role.

  5. Enable the relevant collision permissions for the role.

Collision permissions and Confidential Safety Events

If a collision is marked confidential, users must have both the relevant collision permission and the required Confidential Safety Events permissions to access it. Collision permissions alone do not grant access to confidential content.

Configure collision type filters for alerts

A new Collision type filter in the alert creation flow lets admins route collision alerts to the right roles based on collision severity.

  1. Log in to the Fleet Dashboard.
  2. Go to Admin > Alerts.
  3. Create a new alert or edit an existing collision alert.
  4. Under Collision type, select one or more of the following:
    • Non-life-threatening
    • Life-threatening
    • Unconfirmed
  5. Assign the alert to the appropriate role or user group.
  6. Click Save.  desktop-full - 2026-07-28T084221.041.png

FAQs

Can I control who views collisions separately from who can download collision videos?

Yes. View and download access are configured as separate permissions, so fleet admins can give some users view-only access while granting download access to others.

Can life-threatening collision content be restricted to a specific group of users?

Yes. The View life-threatening collisions and Download life-threatening collision videos permissions can be assigned to specific roles, keeping that content restricted to designated users.

If a collision is marked confidential, do collision permissions grant access to it?

No. Confidential Safety Events permissions apply as a hard gate on top of collision permissions. Users must have both the relevant collision permission and the required Confidential Safety Events permissions to access it.

Can users customize enhanced collision reports in the Fleet App?

No. Fleet App supports viewing and downloading enhanced collision reports, but customization is only available on the Fleet Dashboard.

Does this affect how collision events appear in the Driver App?

No. Driver App collision visibility continues to be restricted from Drivers as it is today.

Is enhanced collision report access enabled by default?

No. It is off by default for all roles and must be explicitly enabled by a fleet admin.

What happens if a user doesn't have the View collision videos permission?

Users without this permission cannot access collision event videos in Safety Hub or on collision detail pages.

Are these permissions enabled by default?

Users who previously had access to permission of ‘View Safety videos/images’ will get access to ‘View Non-collisions and Collisions’ by default. Users who have access to Download previously, will get access to ‘Download Non-collision, Non-Life threatening, Life threatening collisions’. Users who previously had access to permission of ‘View, download, and customize detailed collision report’ will continue to have access to both new permissions of ‘View and download’ and ‘Customize report’.
