Introduction
Fleet admins can now create rules that automatically change camera behavior when a vehicle is inside a geofence, and return to normal behavior when it leaves. The rules run on the device, so they don’t depend on cellular coverage.
What’s new?
- Geofence rules: Choose geofences, vehicle groups and an action, all in the Agents section of the Fleet Dashboard.
- Stop audio and video capture: Stop capture on the driver-facing camera only, or on both cameras, while a vehicle is inside a geofence.
- Turn event detection off: Keep cameras on and stop detecting specific events, or all events except collision.
- Rule management: View, edit, copy, deactivate or delete rules from the Agents page.
How does this help fleets?
- Privacy compliance: Meet privacy and union requirements at sensitive sites automatically.
- Accurate scores: Stop dismissing geofenced safety events by hand.
- Fewer irrelevant alerts: Turn off detection that doesn’t reflect real risk at a given site.
How to access this feature
Admins can create rules in the Fleet Dashboard under Admin > Platform > Agents. Rule creation is available to admins only.
Rollout plan
- Launch date: November 2, 2026
- Availability: United States.
Important notes
- Requires a Vehicle Gateway 3 and an AI Dashcam, with minimum firmware VG3 v112110 and AI Dashcam v61008.
- AI Dashcam Plus support will follow in Q1 2027. Omnicam and Provision cameras aren’t supported.
- Stopping capture on both cameras also disables collision detection.
- A rule applies to all vehicle states while the vehicle is on. Engine-off recording follows normal dashboard settings.
- A Camera Control API call made inside a geofence can override an active rule.
- Dashboard only. No Driver App or Fleet App update is required.
