Occasionally, you may encounter difficulty inserting the dashcam's USB cable into the Vehicle Gateway's USB port. This typically occurs when a new or replacement dashcam is connected to a Vehicle Gateway that previously housed a different dashcam. The reason for this is that a portion of the previous dashcam's USB plastic casing may remain lodged within the Vehicle Gateway's port, obstructing the insertion of the new cable's full casing.
When a dashcam is disconnected, a small part of the USB cable's plastic housing can sometimes remain attached to the Vehicle Gateway's USB port. This residual piece effectively obstructs the port's opening, preventing the new dashcam's cable, which has its complete plastic casing, from fitting correctly.
To resolve this issue, you can try one of the following methods:
Remove the Lodged Plastic:
- Carefully use a thin, flat tool, such as a plastic scraper or a small flathead screwdriver, to gently pry and lift the remaining piece of plastic from the Vehicle Gateway's USB port. Take care not to damage the port during this process.
Detach the Dashcam's USB-Casing (If Applicable):
- In some cases, the plastic casing surrounding the new dashcam's USB cable head may be detachable. If this is the case, carefully remove the casing to allow the cable to fit into the obstructed port.
