Introduction
Motive is introducing AT&T FirstNet-supported AI Dashcam Plus models (AIDC+ DC63 and DC64) with a FirstNet Trusted-class camera and a dedicated FirstNet SIM and firmware while the existing AIDC+ experience remains unchanged.
New FirstNet-supported AIDC+ provides public sector and emergency fleets prioritized, secure connectivity on AT&T’s public safety network so they can keep critical video and telematics online when they need it the most.
What’s New?
- FirstNet-enabled AI Dashcam Plus: New AI Dashcam Plus models (DC63 and DC64) connect to AT&T FirstNet, the nationwide network built specifically for first responders and public safety organizations. These devices ship with a FirstNet SIM and are certified to run on the FirstNet network.
- Priority access: When there is a major event like a storm, evacuation, or large‑scale emergency, FirstNet‑enabled devices get priority on the AT&T network, so your safety video and telematics traffic keep flowing while consumer traffic may be slowed or blocked.
- Better coverage: FirstNet adds access to Band 14, a lower‑frequency band that travels farther and penetrates buildings better than many standard commercial bands, while still letting your devices use AT&T’s other LTE bands in situations when they have stronger connectivity.
- Eligibility‑gated ordering: Only FirstNet‑eligible Primary and Extended Primary customers can order the FirstNet AIDC+ devices.
- Primary users include police, fire, EMS, emergency management, and 911 centers.
- Extended Primary users: DOTs, public works, utilities, hospitals, public transit, and municipal fleets supporting emergency response.
- Hardware-only upgrade: Commercial AI Dashcam Plus hardware cannot be upgraded to FirstNet via software alone. Dedicated FirstNet-enabled devices are required to get access to the AT&T FirstNet Network.
- No change to in‑cab experience: All existing AI Dashcam Plus features, such as AI events, live streaming, privacy controls, and two‑way audio, continue to work as before. The only change is which network your data uses for eligible fleets.
- Available to US‑only fleets: FirstNet support on AIDC+ is available for US fleets only with a focus on eligible public sector and public safety fleets.
How does this help our customers?
- Always‑on connectivity in emergencies: Priority and preemption on the FirstNet network keeps safety video, AI events, and telematics online during disasters or major incidents, even when commercial traffic is congested or throttled.
- Stronger rural and in‑building coverage: Access to Band 14 (700 MHz) plus all AT&T commercial LTE bands improves reach and penetration in rural areas and inside buildings, reducing blind spots for critical safety footage.
- Enhanced safety and compliance: Consistent connectivity means a higher chance that critical videos (collisions, near misses, and unsafe driving behaviors) are uploaded and available when you are responding to incidents, handling claims, or passing audits.
- Enhanced security and compliance posture: Targeting FirstNet Trusted IoT classification means AIDC+ undergoes elevated security validation, annual audits, and ongoing firmware/security patching, all on a separate secure packet core designed for public safety traffic.
- Seamless operational fit: Because the in‑cab experience remains unchanged, public sector and emergency fleets can adopt FirstNet connectivity without retraining drivers or reconfiguring workflows.
