    Introduction

Motive helps fleets manage employee changes by syncing user information with identity providers like Okta or Azure AD. This ensures that user creation, deletion, and updates are handled efficiently as fleets grow.

    How Directory Sync Helps You

Motive's Directory Sync feature simplifies the IT Admin’s job by automating user setup:

    • Automatically adds Fleet users and Drivers to your Motive account when created in the identity provider.
    • Saves time by eliminating the need to manage users in two separate systems.
    • Reduces errors and ensures everything stays in sync.

Here is the list of supported identity providers. Motive supports all providers that use the SCIM (System for Cross-domain Identity Management) protocol.

Note: To set up Directory Sync for your fleet or for any of the listed identity providers, please contact us at ssosupport@gomotive.com or your designated Customer Success Manager.

    Directory Sync Overview

Motive’s Directory Sync offers the following features:

    • Provisioning and Deprovisioning: Automatically add or remove Drivers and Fleet users in the Motive Dashboard when assigned or unassigned in the Identity Provider (IdP).
    • Managing Key Information: Sync important details from the IdP to Motive:
      • Drivers: First Name, Last Name, Email, Time-tracking method.
      • Fleet users: First Name, Last Name, Email.

Once a Driver or Fleet user is successfully synced, the above information can only be updated through the Identity Provider. These fields are locked for editing within Motive.
