    Canadian Split Sleeper Provision Overview

Here’s how the Canadian Split Sleeper Provision works:

    For Individual Driver

    • Split sleeper for the single driver is when there are 2 sleeper periods totaling 10+ hours, each 2 to 8 hours, and restarts the shift after the first of the two periods.
    • The 2 qualifying chunks can be 2-8, 3-7, 4-6, or 5-5 (a condition that both chunks be on the Sleeper Berth Status).
    • The new shift begins after the first qualifying period, regardless of whether it's smaller or larger.

    For Team Drivers

    • For team Drivers, the Split Sleeper Provision is met when the Drivers take two qualifying periods, both on the Sleeper status totaling at least 10 hours (neither period is shorter than 4 hours).
    • The new shift begins after the first qualifying period, regardless of whether it's smaller or larger.
