Introduction
Motive’s new Winter Operations solution is designed for public sector fleets and municipalities to manage snow and ice removal effectively. Through Motive’s integration with Smart Planet Software, we’re connecting customers with the leading salt controller hardware and utilizing advanced telematics to provide complete visibility into winter maintenance activities.
Winter Operations allows fleet managers to monitor plow status and material application in real-time, ensuring that roads are cleared efficiently while providing the data necessary to stay accountable to the communities they serve.
What’s New?
- Salt Spreader Integration: Native support for the industry’s top five controllers, including Dickey-John, Bosch Rexroth, Certified Power, Cirrus Schmidt, and Force America.
- Plow Status Tracking: Monitor material usage (salt/brine type and rate) and plow up/down states in real-time.
- Community Transparency Portal: A mobile-friendly, public-facing map that allows residents to see live plowing and salting progress. This helps reduce 311 call volumes by giving citizens direct access to service updates.
- Live Activity Dashboard: A unified view of your entire fleet’s progress, showing route coverage and current activity across the city.
- Automated Event Summaries: At the end of a winter event, automatically generate reports detailing total labor hours, mileage, and resource consumption, such as total tons of salt used.
How does this help our customers?
- Improved Public Trust: Proactively manage community expectations by providing a transparent, real-time look at service levels through the Transparency Portal.
- Operational Efficiency: Eliminate gaps in coverage by using data-driven insights to optimize vehicle routes and resource allocation during active storms.
- Cost Accountability: Automated reporting eliminates manual data entry and provides verifiable results for labor and material expenditures.
