Introduction
Motive MCP is a native connector that turns Motive into a live, query-able data source inside the AI tools you already use, i.e., Claude and ChatGPT. Ask questions about your fleet, compliance, safety, and dispatch data in plain English, and take action, all without opening the Motive dashboard.
What's New?
Fleet admins can now connect Motive to Claude or ChatGPT using the Motive MCP server URL. Once connected, you can ask natural-language questions about your fleet and take action directly from your AI tool. No API keys, IT tickets, or engineering support is required.
Setup takes under two minutes:
- Open Claude or ChatGPT and go to the connectors or integrations settings.
- Add a custom connector using the Motive MCP server URL: https://mcp.us.gomotive.com/mcp
- Sign in with your existing Motive credentials.
- Review and approve the consent screen listing the data scopes being granted.
Once connected, your session renews silently in the background. The connection only breaks if you explicitly revoke access.
You can ask questions like:
- "Which drivers have HOS violations today?"
- "Which vehicles have active fault codes?"
- "Give me a morning brief on fleet performance from yesterday."
You can also take action directly from your AI tool, such as assigning unidentified driving periods, sending driver messages, and creating dispatches anywhere your Motive account has permission to do so.
How does this help our customers?
- Faster answers, no dashboard switching: Get live answers across fleet, compliance, safety, and dispatch data in one natural language question without logging into Motive or cross-referencing multiple screens.
- Quick setup: Admins can connect in under two minutes using existing Motive credentials. No API keys, no IT tickets, and no engineering support needed.
- Take action without leaving your AI tool: Assign unidentified driving periods, send driver messages, create dispatches, and more, all from Claude or ChatGPT.
- Stays connected: Sessions renew silently so you are never interrupted mid-workflow. Revoke access at any time.

FAQs
Who can connect to Motive MCP?
Today, only fleet admin accounts can be authenticated. Support for fleet managers and operators is planned but not yet available.
What can I do with Motive MCP once it's connected?
Ask natural-language questions about your fleet, drivers, vehicles, HOS compliance, safety events, dispatch, and more. You can also take action, like assigning unidentified driving periods, sending driver messages, or creating dispatches, all without leaving your AI tool.
Do I need an API key?
No. Setup uses OAuth, you authenticate with your existing Motive credentials and approve a scoped consent screen.
Which AI clients are supported?
Claude and ChatGPT are live for this launch.
How long does setup take?
Under two minutes, with no IT ticket, API key, or engineering support required.
Will I have to keep logging back in?
No. Once connected, your session renews silently in the background. You won't be interrupted unless you explicitly revoke access.
Is my company's data isolated from other companies using Motive MCP?
Yes. Every connection is bound to your company account, so your data is never visible to another company's session.
Will everyone at my company see the same data through Motive MCP?
Today, yes, anyone who connects sees fleet-wide data, regardless of their role-based permissions inside Motive. Role- and region-based scoping so that, for example, a regional manager only sees their region is planned but not yet available.
How do I revoke access?
For revoking the access, the customer will have to delete their Motive MCP from their AI client. The process to revoke access is mentioned in each of ChatGPT's and Claude's user manuals.
This immediately invalidates all active tokens; the next request prompts re-authentication.
What server URL do I use to connect?
