Real-time Speeding Alerts

The Fleet Dashboard enables Fleet Admins to configure email alert notifications to catch speeding incidents as soon as they happen. These email notifications go straight to the Fleet User in real time, allowing them to take corrective action on the spot and tell their Drivers to slow down.

Fleet Users can choose to either have an alert when

  1. Vehicle speed reaches the mentioned units above the posted limit
  2. Vehicle speed increases above the specified speed

For external recipients, Safety Event alerts for speeding violations display speed in MPH and time in UTC.

For recipients within the account, the alert uses the units and time zone set in Account Settings > Preferences.

The same behavior applies to the Speeding Events section in the web app.

12. Click on Save when done.

Speeding enhancements

Starting September 11, 2025, speeding email alerts are based on severity and real-time events.

  • Existing “speeding over posted” values are automatically assigned a severity level.
  • Alerts are triggered by severity instead of custom speed limit thresholds.
  • No action is required.

Note: Severity levels are assigned based on the following speeding over posted values:

  • Low, medium, high, or critical: < 6 mph (< 9.6 km/h)
  • Medium, high, or critical: ≥ 6 and < 11 mph (≥ 9.6 and < 17.70 km/h)
  • High or critical: ≥ 11 and < 15 mph (≥ 17.70 and < 24.14 km/h)
  • Critical: ≥ 15 mph (≥ 24.14 km/h)
