Introduction
Motive is introducing a new Integration API, allowing fleets to seamlessly assign Drivers to vehicles based on trip data received from third-party systems. This update is designed for fleets relying on external Driver login/logout methods instead of Motive’s standard driver-vehicle assignment options, such as the Driver App.
What’s New?
- Fleets can fetch all unassigned driving periods from the driving periods’ endpoint. The new ‘source’ parameter on the endpoint allows them to do that.
- Fleets can then send trip details via a PUT API call, after cross-referencing data from their external application, including trip start and end times, vehicle ID, and driver ID.
- The API verifies data and assigns the Driver to the correct trip in Motive.
How does this help our customers?
- Seamless Integration: Fleets using third-party driver login management systems can now leverage their employee sign-in/sign-out times to assign to trips and Safety Events in Motive
- Improved Accuracy: Ensures correct Driver assignments using verified trip data.
- Operational Efficiency: Reduces manual efforts and redundant actions if this information is already kept in another system.
| Note: This feature is only available for assigning exempt drivers and for fleets that don’t use Motive for HOS logging. |
