Introduction

Motive Card Policy is a centralized toolset designed to give administrators robust control over card usage, enforcing spending compliance, protecting against misuse, and ensuring accurate financial data collection for every card purchase.

What’s New?

The Motive Card Policy feature centralizes three core areas to control how, when, and where Motive Cards can be used:

  • Spend Limits: Define spend caps, merchant category restrictions (such as fuel-only), and time-of-day/day-of-week usage rules. These are managed via Spend Profiles.
  • Transaction Requirements: Mandate cardholders provide required details (like Vehicle ID, Odometer reading, or custom fields) before completing a purchase to categorize expenses correctly.
  • Merchant Controls: Block specific, non-preferred merchants to prevent unauthorized spending and fraudulent use.

All policy changes are reflected instantly on the cards.
