Timecards Geofence Restriction

Introduction

Motive's new Geofence-based Timecard Restrictions feature lets fleets enforce where drivers can clock in and clock out by restricting those actions to approved geofenced locations, improving time accuracy, reducing time fraud, and streamlining compliance across operations.

When drivers attempt to clock in or out at unauthorized locations, the feature provides clear messaging while maintaining a seamless experience at permitted locations.

 

What’s New?

• Geofenced timecard actions enforcement: Enforce clock-in and clock-out only at selected geofenced locations. Fleet Admins can configure rules to choose specific geofence categories and locations and apply them to drivers or driver groups for consistent, policy‑driven time tracking.
• Granular action controls: Separate control for clock‑in and clock‑out actions in Workforce > Timecards settings, with clear configuration for the geofence scope and the targeted population (drivers/groups).
• In-app compliance gating for the Driver App: If enabled for driver/groups, clock-in/clock-out actions are available when the driver(s) are within approved geofences, and if outside those areas, the actions are disabled, and a topsheet explains why the action is restricted, guiding drivers to compliant behavior.
