WideTech SPACE is a fully cloud-based fleet monitoring platform built by WideTech, a Colombian fleet-technology company. It combines GPS, GPRS, and satellite tracking to give monitoring centers a digital "control tower" view of their fleets.
This integration pushes Motive vehicle locations, hard-brake events, and speeding events into WideTech's SPACE platform on customer's behalf. Vehicle positions sync on a recurring poll (every 2 minutes by default), while hard-brake and speeding events forward in near real time as they occur — giving the customer's monitoring center continuous, consolidated visibility into Motive-equipped vehicles without needing a second tracking system.
Key Benefits
Single pane of glass for monitoring: Motive-tracked vehicles now appear directly in WideTech SPACE, so the customer's monitoring center no longer has to watch two disconnected systems to get full fleet visibility.
Real-time safety event visibility: Hard-brake and speeding events forward as they happen, so the customer's monitoring team sees safety-critical incidents without waiting on manual exports.
Continuous location tracking: Vehicle positions refresh on a recurring cycle regardless of vehicle activity, keeping the customer's dashboard current at all times.
Zero extra hardware or setup on the vehicle side: Uses Motive's existing ELD/Vehicle Gateway data; no separate device or dual-tracking setup is needed to appear on WideTech's platform.
Requirements
- Vehicle Gateway / ELD hardware: Required on every vehicle in scope, since eld_device.identifier (the source for WideTech's strGpsID) is only available on Vehicle-Gateway-equipped units.
- Motive API Key: One valid key per customer (customer), used to authenticate the location poll, the per-vehicle device lookup, and the two webhook subscriptions.
- WideTech Device Registration: customer must independently register each vehicle's eld_device.identifier as a device in WideTech SPACE before SendLocation will succeed for that vehicle — this happens on WideTech's/customer's side, outside Motive's control.
- WideTech Credentials: Valid strLogin / strPassword for customer's SPACE account, used to obtain the session Sign/Token pair.
- Webhook Subscriptions: Two Motive company webhooks per customer (speeding_event_created, driver_performance_event_created) registered against customer's Motive account, authenticated via an HMAC-SHA1 shared secret.
Integration steps in Motive
Note: Click the Install button on the WideTech's SPACE app in the Motive Marketplace.
If you are on the Motive Fleet Dashboard, take the following steps:
- On the left menu, click Marketplace.
- Search for WideTech's SPACE in the search bar.
- Click Learn More on the WideTech's SPACE tile.
- Click Install.
The system will now generate a case for API Support. API Support then creates a Professional Services request and routes it to the Partnership Ecosystem team. The team schedules a scoping or kickoff call, after which the enablement process begins.
