Fuel Page

The Fuel page in the Motive Dashboard gives fleet managers a centralized view of all fuel-related data. With clear visualizations and actionable insights, it helps reduce costs and improve fuel efficiency.

Overview

The Fuel page gives you an easy-to-read summary of your fleet’s fuel data, helping you improve efficiency and lower costs.

  • Centralized insights: See all your fleet’s fuel data—like MPG, fuel use, and cost—in one place for easy management.
  • Actionable analytics: Find areas where fuel is being wasted, so you can improve driver habits or adjust routes to save fuel.
  • Data visualization: Understand performance trends, such as MPG and fuel costs, with simple, clear graphs.
  • Benchmarking: Compare your fleet’s MPG to industry averages, helping you find areas to improve and set goals for better performance.

Basics

The Fuel page in the Motive Dashboard gives fleet managers a centralized view of all fuel-related data. It offers real-time insights that support proactive decisions around fuel usage, cost, and efficiency.

On the Fleet Dashboard click Fuel, it displays:

Fuel Summary

  • Displays fleet’s fuel performance with headline KPIs, including total fuel spend, total fuel volume purchased, and inefficiency cost.
  • Hover over inefficiency cost to see an explanation of how the metric is calculated.

Fuel Consumption

Displays a breakdown of fuel consumption across the fleet by energy type, including diesel, unleaded, and EV charging.

Savings

Track fuel savings based on your fleet’s card:

  • Motive Card customers can view Realized Savings, including actual discounts and rebates earned.
  • Manual upload customers can view Estimated Savings, based on a comparison between retail fuel prices and Motive network pricing using regional benchmarks.

To ensure the experience reflects available data as accurately as possible, missed savings are only shown when you choose to enable them.

Note: Selecting the savings view displays the Missed Savings tab within Cards.

Unproductive Idling

  • This monitors average benchmarked unproductive idling per vehicle or 12-week rolling window to better understand idle-related inefficiencies across the fleet.
  • This view helps highlight opportunities to reduce fuel consumption and improve overall fleet performance over time.

Fuel Waste

  • Identifies the cost of avoidable fuel loss with a dollar-based fuel waste KPI.
  • This helps to view top 5 vehicles contributing most to fuel waste, including each vehicle’s idling time and associated waste.
Note: For customers not using the Motive Card, the layout automatically expands to give more space to Idling and Fuel Waste insights.

Click View all to display the updated Idling Events page, filtered to the chosen date range.

Driver Performance

  • Helps fleets to understand driver fuel efficiency with a more contextual Fuel Efficiency Score instead of an unorganized list.
  • Displays top coaching opportunities, with the main contributing factor called out clearly. For example; J. Smith has 35% higher idling events than other drivers.

Click View all to display the Driver page within Fuel. The filtered and sorted view helps fleets to work on the biggest improvement opportunities.

Vehicle Performance

  • Identifies underperforming vehicles with a prioritized view based on how each vehicle compares to similar make, model, and year (MMY) vehicles in the selected fleet.

Click View all to display the Fuel Inefficiency Report, to explore vehicle benchmark performance details.

The dashboard also includes interactive widgets and visualizations:

  • Trends graph: View historical trends for MPG, fuel costs, and fuel consumption over time.
  • Top and bottom performers: Quickly identify which drivers or vehicles are performing best and which may need attention.
  • Alerts: Stay informed when unusual changes occur, such as a sudden drop in MPG.

The Fuel page brings all your data together in one place. Instead of managing spreadsheets or scattered reports, you get clear visuals and actionable insights that help reduce fuel waste and improve operational efficiency.
