How are Coachable Drivers identified

    Answer

    • Video Events: when a Driver generates a critical or high severity event, the event is automatically marked as coachable if the Driver exhibited behavior that contributed to the severity of the event (ex: unsafe lane change, violating a traffic law, cell phone usage, etc).
    • Speeding Events: When the Driver generated a speeding event where the average speed was at least 6mph or more over the speed limit for at least 1 minute.

When a Driver is identified as coachable the following series of events happen:

    • The Driver is automatically added to the “Coaching” section under Safety for the Fleet Admin or Fleet Manager to begin the coaching workflow.
    • The Driver is automatically notified to review the video via the Driver App.
    • Drivers can then review the video of the event and mark it as reviewed once self-coaching is completed.
    • This helps further prioritize important events for coaching and empowers Drivers to proactively self-coach.

The rubric below highlights when a Driver is identified as coachable for video events. Event Severity is assigned by Motive’s safety team when a safety event occurs (read more here).
