Cell phone usage is detected when drivers use their cell phones for at least 5 seconds while traveling above 25 mph. Your drivers can avoid this behavior by:
- Only using electronic devices when their vehicle has safely stopped
- Using a hands-free device if they must make or accept a call
Pro Tips for Distraction
Distraction is detected when a driver doesn't appear to be paying full attention to the road for at least 15 seconds while traveling above 10 mph. Your drivers can minimize distractions by:
- Only eating and drinking when the vehicle has fully stopped
- Keeping their eyes on the road ahead at all times
- Keeping both hands on the steering wheel while the vehicle is in motion
Pro Tips for Stop Sign Violation
Stop sign violations are detected when a driver's speed does not go below 6mph within 7 seconds of a stop sign becoming visible to the camera. Drivers can minimize stop sign violations by:
- Looking 12 -15 seconds ahead while driving
- Coming to a complete stop at a stop sign before proceeding

- Make sure to not overspeed at hard corners
- Make sure to not turn your steering too much at a hard corner

A red light violation is detected when a driver doesn't make a complete stop (typically less than three seconds) at a red traffic light. Coach your drivers to:
- Look 12-15 seconds ahead for stop signs/traffic lights
- Watch for “stale” green lights about to turn yellow
- Slow down for yellow lights
- Stop completely at a stop sign before proceeding
