Special Duty Status (YM/PC) & Driving Status Gets Cleared After 6 Minutes of Idling

Symptoms: 

• Drivers need to reconfirm their duty status after 5 minutes of idle time.

   

• If the driver does not confirm their status, their yard move (YM) or personal conveyance (PC) gets cleared.

Cause

• The driver does not confirm their duty status when prompted after 5 minutes of idle time. Motive requires drivers to confirm their duty status in compliance with ELD regulations.

Note: When the duty status is set to driving, and the CMV has not been in motion for 5 consecutive minutes, the ELD must prompt the driver to confirm continued driving status or enter the proper duty status. If the driver does not respond to the ELD prompt within 1-minute after receiving the prompt, the ELD must automatically switch the duty status to the last duty status being selected. The time thresholds for this section must not be configurable.

 

Solution

1. After 5 minutes of idle time, a prompt will appear asking you to confirm your duty status to remain in Personal Conveyance, Yard Move, or Driving status.

2. To confirm your duty status, tap Continue Driving.

3. If you do not respond within 60 seconds, your duty status will be cleared, and the next time you drive, it will be recorded as drive time.

 

Note: As per FMCSA: If the status is Driving and the Continue prompt is not answered within 1 minute, the status will revert to the last duty status.   If the status is Personal Conveyance and the Continue prompt is not answered within 1 minute, the status will be converted to Off-Duty.   If the status is Yard Move and the Continue prompt is not answered within 1 minute, the status will be converted to On-Duty.
