Symptoms
- GPS is not performing well
- The left LED on the Vehicle Gateway is red
- Log entries with Unavailable Location
- No/out of date location history on the Fleet Dashboard
Cause
- Placement issues
Solution
Follow the troubleshooting steps mentioned below to get the GPS issue resolved:
1. Check where the Vehicle Gateway is placed. Ideally, it should be placed in the vehicle with ample exposure to the sky. Remove any items that may be placed on top of the Vehicle Gateway.
Note: The Vehicle Gateway can't see through heavy metals, but it can see through plastics, glass, or light metals. Also, make sure to not point the Motive logo towards the ground, firewall, or cabin of the vehicle. |
2. Confirm the left LED status. If it's GREEN it means there is a stable cellular connection but if it's RED that means there is a bad cellular connection.
2. Unplug the Vehicle Gateway from the diagnostic port with the engine off, wait 5 minutes, and then plug it back in.
If you still cannot resolve your issue, you may contact support.
