Engine-off Recording allows supported Motive dashcams to continue recording after the vehicle's engine is turned off. This helps capture footage for incidents such as hit-and-runs, theft, or vandalism.
This feature is available on supported Smart Dashcams, AI Dashcams, and AI Dashcam Plus devices. Supported models include DC-33, DC-34, DC-53, DC-54, DC-63, and DC-64.
Enabling Engine-off Recording
Please refer to the following article on how to enable Engine-off recording.
When Engine-off Recording is not enabled
When Engine-off Recording is not enabled, supported Motive dashcams, including AI Dashcam Plus, continue recording for 10 minutes after the engine is turned off.
When Engine-off Recording is enabled
Recording duration depends on the vehicle type and your configured settings:
- For heavy-duty vehicles, Engine-off Recording can continue for up to 24 hours after the engine is turned off, depending on your configured settings.
- For light-duty and medium-duty vehicles, Engine-off Recording can continue for up to 2 hours after the engine is turned off, depending on your configured settings.
To ensure smooth functioning of this feature, update the VIN on the vehicle profile. This enables the system to identify the vehicle class and apply the appropriate settings accurately. Enabling this feature will also have implications for dashcam storage, so consider the impact on storage capacity accordingly.
