Device Hub Statuses

The various statuses in the Device hub help Fleet Admins and Fleet Managers understand the current state of each Vehicle Gateway and Dashcam. This visibility enables proactive troubleshooting and timely resolution of potential issues. Below are the definitions and recommended actions for each device status, specific to Vehicle Gateways and Dashcams:

Vehicle Gateway statuses

Main Status Sub Status Description

Normal

  The Vehicle Gateway is properly connected and functioning without any issues. If the device has not been active for the last 30 days, then we recommend checking the vehicle’s status and troubleshooting the device if needed.

Setup Incomplete

Installation Incomplete The Vehicle Gateway is assigned but needs to be installed in a vehicle. View installation steps.

Setup Incomplete

Assignment Incomplete The Vehicle Gateway is installed but needs to be assigned to a vehicle. Learn more.

Setup Incomplete

Installation & Assignment Incomplete The Vehicle Gateway requires both assignment and installation to begin functioning. View installation steps.

Powered Off

  Power loss is detected due to a disconnected cable, battery kill switch, or ignition power source. Check all cable connections and turn the engine on to restore power. The left-side LED should be green. Learn more.

Return Device

  The Vehicle Gateway should no longer be used, and a return authorization has been issued. Please send the device back to Motive. Learn more.

Dashcam statuses

Main Status Sub Status Description

Normal

  The AI Dashcam is properly connected to the Vehicle Gateway. If the vehicle has not been active for the last 30 days, then we recommend checking the vehicle’s status and troubleshooting the device if needed.

Setup Incomplete

Installation Incomplete The AI Dashcam is ready to be installed. Contact support if you believe this step is already complete. View the installation guide.

Powered Off

Gateway Powered Off Power loss is detected on the Vehicle Gateway connected to the AI Dashcam due to a disconnected cable, battery kill switch, or ignition power source. Check all cable connections and turn the engine on to restore power to the Vehicle Gateway. The left-side LED on the Vehicle Gateway should be green. Learn more.

Powered Off

Camera Powered Off The AI Dashcam lost power due to a disconnected cable. Ensure the Dashcam cable is securely connected to the Vehicle Gateway. Learn more.

Install Issue

Lens Obstructed Remove any obstruction from the AI Dashcam and ensure the lens is clean. Learn more.

Install Issue

Camera Misaligned

Reposition the AI Dashcam so it has a clear view of the road and the vehicles. Learn more.


 

Other Issues

  The AI Dashcam hasn't recorded in the last day while the vehicle engine has been on. View troubleshooting steps here.
Return Device The AI Dashcam should no longer be used, and a return authorization has been issued. Please send the device back to Motive. Learn more.

Viewing device statuses on the Fleet Dashboard

This update ensures that the device statuses are consistent across the Fleet Dashboard, and the fleets can view the device statuses not only in the Device Hub but also in critical areas outside the Device Hub. 

  1. Fleet View > Vehicles and Assets lists: By hovering over the camera icon, fleet users can see device statuses, making it easier to scan the statuses at a glance.
  1. Fleet View > Vehicle and Asset Live pages: Displays the current Device Hub status for the Vehicle Gateway and Dashcams alongside live telematics so fleet users can see if issues are device-related.
  1. Admin > Vehicle and Asset list pages: Shows device statuses directly in admin lists, helping admins and managers spot problematic vehicles or assets while managing configurations.
  1. Admin > Editing Vehicle and Asset pages: Surfaces Vehicle Gateway and Dashcam statuses on the edit page so admins understand device status issues before making any changes.
  1. Safety > Cameras tab: Shows camera statuses (for example, Lens obstructed, Camera misaligned, Powered off) in consistency with Device Hub and Device Status Report.

Viewing device statuses on the Fleet App

  1. Devices > Vehicle Gateway details - Dashcam section: Displays Dashcam statuses in alignment with the Device Hub.
  1. Fleet View > Vehicle Profile page: Shows the device status in the Fleet App vehicle profile view so field managers and drivers see the same status as fleet admins.
